Austerdam
“Everything’s bigger in Texas.”
They weren’t kidding, especially when it comes to their love of big cars and big roads. Moving to Austin without a driver’s license was a brave (perhaps foolish) move, and I quickly learned biking and walking were not convenient modes of transport.
‘Austerdam’, a hopeful marrying of Austin and Amsterdam, is a series of posters and stickers inspired by Dutch anti-car protest posters from the 1970s.
This project explored whether illustrated posters could be enough to challenge drivers and posit cycling as the new normal.
